The New Jersey Devils (9-3-1) will host the Montreal Canadiens at Prudential Center, starting a three-game homestand. The winner of tonight’s game will become the first team this season to reach 10 wins.
The Devils took the ice for their morning skate ahead of the game against the Canadiens. Center Cody Glass participated in line rushes and is set to return to the lineup after missing seven games due to an upper-body injury.
“It was a weird injury to have, it popped out of nowhere. I'm happy to be back with the guys,” Glass said. “I’m 100 percent and shouldn’t be limited at all. I’m just trying to jump right into it, get hit, see how it goes. It’s hockey.”
Forward Connor Brown, who practiced but missed the previous two games, was not on the ice today. With Glass back, the Devils will reassemble the lines that contributed to their eight-game winning streak. Glass will resume his role as the third-line center, allowing Mercer to shift to wing and reunite with Nico Hischier and Timo Meier.
On defense, rookie Arseny Gritsyuk will move down to the third line, easing some of the defensive responsibilities placed on him earlier.
The return of Cody Glass strengthens the Devils' lineup, aiming to maintain momentum as they host the Canadiens and pursue a league-leading 10th win this season.
