A new country will officially join the Abraham Accords, the normalization agreements between Israel and several Muslim-majority nations, announced Steve Witkoff, US President Donald Trump's special envoy, on Thursday.
Witkoff did not reveal the country's name but mentioned the announcement would be made Thursday evening at an event he is traveling back to Washington to attend.
"I'm flying back to Washington tonight because we're going to announce tonight, another country coming into the Abraham Accords," said Witkoff during a business forum in Miami, Florida.
The Abraham Accords are peace agreements signed between Israel and several Muslim-majority countries during Trump's first term. So far, Bahrain, Morocco, Sudan, and the United Arab Emirates have joined the accords.
According to Axios news, the new country expected to join the accords is Kazakhstan, which has maintained diplomatic relations with Israel since 1992.
