Chad Michael Murray and James Lafferty, who portrayed half-brothers Lucas and Nathan Scott on the popular series One Tree Hill, shared their thoughts with PEOPLE magazine for the Sexiest Man Alive issue. The show aired from 2003 to 2012, marking 22 years since the actors first appeared as basketball-playing brothers at River Court.
Despite their characters often clashing on the show, Murray and Lafferty have maintained a close friendship offscreen. They frequently made each other laugh during filming.
“The only times I couldn’t stop laughing were when I was shooting scenes with him,” says Lafferty, 40.
“It was only good times,” adds Murray, 44. “Really, really good times.”
The two actors reunited to explore the show's legacy and share their perspectives, including weighing in on the famous "Naley vs. Leyton" debate. Fans were eager to hear their opinions on these beloved couples.
During auditions for the role, Lafferty initially struggled with basketball skills but quickly improved by taking coaching over the summer.
“During auditions I had to play one-on-one and failed miserably. I immediately got a basketball coach for the summer,” Lafferty recalls.
