Seven neighbours in Brookmans Park will share a £1 million prize from the People's Postcode Lottery. The winning postcode, AL9 6PT, received the weekly "Millionaire Street" prize.
Steven Bean, 52, one of the triple-ticket winners, pledged to donate part of his £249,999 prize to a charity supporting adults with learning difficulties.
“The first thing I’m going to do is give some money to a charity who had a bus stolen and burned.”
On October 9, Camphill Milton Keynes, the charity in question, announced its only minibus had been stolen and later found burned. Steven added that although the bus is insured, the compensation won’t cover the full cost of a replacement.
“The bus is insured, but it won’t cover the cost of getting a new one. Hopefully other people will give them a few quid too.”
Lucy Davies, head of development at Camphill, said the incident had been very confusing and upsetting for the charity residents.
“It has been a very difficult time for our residents who have found this situation very confusing and upsetting.”
