Fog Advisory in Effect for Airdrie–Crossfield

Environment Canada has issued a fog advisory for Rocky View County, including the regions of Airdrie and Crossfield. The agency stated that near-zero visibility in dense fog continues early Friday and should remain until midmorning.

“Motorists are advised that travel could become hazardous in some areas.”

Drivers are encouraged to reduce speed, switch on headlights, and maintain extra distance between vehicles. Around 5 a.m., visibility was reported as poor along Highway 2 between Calgary’s city limits and north of Highway 2A, as well as along Highway 2A from Highway 72 to Township Road 292. Despite the fog, road surfaces were mostly bare and dry.

The agency also cautioned about a potential for freezing rain during the morning commute. The fog is expected to clear by late morning, and light snow periods should subside by noon, followed by a 40 percent chance of afternoon flurries. Air temperatures are forecast to drop to around zero with a morning wind chill near –7.
