Last winter, Bhasha Sumbli, an accomplished actor and teacher, visited Baramulla for the first time. Though she had traveled across India teaching and performing theater, this trip to her ancestral district marked a deeply emotional moment connected to her roots.
Shooting the Netflix film Baramulla became a significant milestone both personally and professionally for her and for many Kashmiri artists gaining national recognition.
On November 7, 2025, Baramulla debuted on Netflix, reaching viewers across 190 countries. Prior to the release, a special press screening took place at a Mumbai preview theater.
Bollywood Hungama reported that the event featured an interactive session with key figures:
"For all of us filmmakers, whatever films we make, it all comes from our past and our life experiences." — Aditya Dhar
The film’s anticipation stemmed not only from its artistic qualities but also from the deeply personal stories it portrays, resonating strongly with those involved.
The Netflix thriller Baramulla offers a heartfelt portrayal of Kashmir, marking a new wave of Kashmiri artistic voices on the global stage.
