“I don’t know if I can announce this but I am just going to … Emma Stone and I are producing a Miss Piggy movie and Cole is writing it,” Jennifer Lawrence revealed on the podcast Las Culturistas, hosted by Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers.

When asked whether Lawrence and Stone would also star in the film, Lawrence hinted, “I think so. We have to… It’s messed up that we haven’t done a movie together.”

Inspiration Behind the Project

Lawrence shared on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that the idea came up during the pandemic lockdowns and amid cancel culture debates. She explained that Emma Stone suggested the concept:

“Miss Piggy is a feminist icon. It would be so funny if Miss Piggy got canceled.”

Lawrence clarified, “Now that is not the plot necessarily. But it got the wheels turning.”
