Witkoff: Hamas Ready to Surrender Weapons to International Force
Steve Witkoff, U.S. envoy, announced at the America Business Forum in Miami that the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas is prepared to hand over its weapons to an international security force in the Gaza Strip.
Witkoff emphasized that Washington is actively pressuring Israel to allow Hamas militants, currently besieged in Rafah in southern Gaza, to leave the area safely.
"Hamas has always made it clear that it is ready to hand over its weapons," Witkoff said, noting that this message was communicated even to Jared Kushner, advisor to U.S. President Donald Trump.
The U.S. envoy expressed hope that Hamas will fulfill this promise, stating:
"If it does, it will realize that the development plan we have for Gaza is truly extraordinary, much better than what was proposed in the past."
This initiative includes a comprehensive job creation program designed to improve conditions in Gaza significantly.
