White House to unveil new country recognizing Israel: Witkoff

White House to Announce New Country Recognizing Israel

The White House is expected to announce later on Thursday that another nation will establish diplomatic relations with Israel under the framework of the Abraham Accords, according to President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff.

“I'm flying back to Washington tonight because we're going to announce, tonight, another country coming into the Abraham Accords,” Witkoff said at the America Business Forum in Miami.

The Abraham Accords, initiated during Trump’s first presidential term in 2020, led several Arab states to normalize relations with Israel. These agreements marked a significant diplomatic breakthrough in the Middle East, reshaping alliances and regional dynamics.

However, the accords have also deepened the isolation of the Palestinians, weakening their position by undermining the regional consensus that Israel should only be recognized after concessions in peace negotiations. For many Palestinians, living under Israeli occupation for decades, these moves felt like betrayal from Arab nations that had previously pledged to support their independence and press Israel to return territories occupied since 1948.

Author’s Summary

The White House plans to announce another country's inclusion in the Abraham Accords, a move expanding regional partnerships with Israel but leaving Palestinians increasingly marginalized.
