John Belushi’s Rise and The Blues Brothers

Starting in 1975, John Belushi emerged as a prominent comedy figure, joining the original cast of Saturday Night Live. Together with co-star Dan Aykroyd, they created iconic characters "Joliet" Jake Blues and Elwood Blues, which led to the formation of the band The Blues Brothers.

The duo made their musical debut on SNL in April 1978. Later that year, after adding more musicians, The Blues Brothers opened for Steve Martin during a residency at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles in September 1978.
