Zbigniew Ziobro, the former Polish justice minister of the last Conservative (PiS) government, did not attend a parliamentary hearing regarding the lifting of his immunity from prosecution.
Ziobro faces 26 indictments for alleged abuse of power, initiated by the Tusk government. During his tenure, he repeatedly clashed with EU institutions.
Ziobro has been staying in Budapest since October 27, as the parliamentary committee approved his immunity waiver and recommended his arrest pending trial.
Ziobro denies all charges. At a November 6 press conference in Budapest, he stated he would not return to Poland because he was told he would be arrested and detained unlawfully before the hearing.
Ziobro, a former Polish justice minister, faces multiple charges and is currently in Budapest, asserting his innocence and citing concerns over unlawful detention if he returns to Poland.
