‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ Launches Food Drive Amid SNAP Benefit Threats
With the Trump Administration threatening to cut SNAP benefits for millions, Jimmy Kimmel Live! has initiated a food drive to assist the Los Angeles Food Bank and the St. Joseph Center.
Goals of the Partner Organizations
- The Los Angeles Food Bank aims to “mobilize resources to fight hunger in our community.”
- The St. Joseph Center supports “working-poor families and people experiencing homelessness to achieve stability and self-sufficiency.”
Context of the Food Drive
The government shutdown has reached 36 days, setting a new record, and uncertainty remains over the future of food stamp payments for 42 million Americans who depend on SNAP benefits.
“Cutting SNAP benefits creates uncertainty for American children, seniors and families. To support our community members in need, we’re starting a donation center in our Hollywood backlot to benefit the @LAFoodBank & @StJosephCtr.
