Two young actors from Greater Manchester are featured in Channel 4’s new drama Summerwater, premiering on Sunday, 16 November. Bertie Wallwork, 10, from Salford, and Emily Briscoe, 12, from Wigan, both train at the Small Screen Talent acting academy run by Ross Adams.
Bertie Wallwork has already appeared in notable TV shows, including Ted Lasso (Apple TV) and Pushers (Channel 4), steadily advancing his screen acting career. For Emily Briscoe, this marks her first professional role on television.
“Both Bertie and Emily are incredibly talented young performers with a natural instinct for screen work,” says Ross Adams. “To be cast in a Channel 4 drama of this calibre is a huge achievement, and to work alongside legends like Shirley Henderson and Dougray Scott at such a young age will be an experience they’ll never forget.”
Summerwater is a six-part drama adapted from Sarah Moss’s best-selling novel. The screenplay is by John Donnelly, writer for Utopia, and it is directed by experienced TV drama directors Robert McKillop and Fiona Walton.
Author’s summary: Two promising young actors from Greater Manchester begin their screen careers in Channel 4’s Summerwater, working alongside acclaimed stars in a highly anticipated drama.
