Warren residents have strongly supported the renewal of a millage to fund the city’s police and fire services. The measure passed with 12,809 votes, amounting to a 65.66% approval margin.
The renewal will maintain funding for public safety over the next five years without increasing taxes. The rate will continue at 4.6176 mils, ensuring stable financing for staffing, equipment, training, and emergency response for the city’s police, fire, and medical departments.
“We’re honored to be entrusted with protecting the lives and property of the residents of Warren, and we remain committed to providing excellence in emergency response, compassion in care and pride in public service,” said Joe Schehr, president of the Warren Professional Firefighters Local 1383.
“The millage represents stability in that we know we aren’t facing drastic changes that would force us to make cuts,” said Warren Fire Commissioner Skip McAdams. “Assuming the economy remains steady, this provides stable funding for both police and fire.”
