‘Ridiculously talented’ Shubman Gill won’t find it difficult to navigate different formats: Shane Watson

‘Ridiculously Talented’ Shubman Gill to Easily Adapt Across Formats, Says Shane Watson

Shubman Gill has become a consistent presence in all cricket formats this year, with Indian management considering him a future full-time captain for all three teams. He currently leads in Test and ODI cricket and serves as vice-captain to Suryakumar Yadav in T20Is.

Shane Watson on Gill's Adaptability

“It does take time (to make adjustments), and it’s through trial and error that you really realise exactly what you need to do to make those adjustments, and playing in different conditions as well,” Watson told PTI.

Watson praised Gill's exceptional technique and talent, stating that it won’t take long for him to master the demands of different formats.

“But Shubman is a ridiculously talented batter. He’s got an amazing technique. It’s not going to take him long at all to be able to really navigate his way through the different formats because when someone is as highly skilled as he is, it’s not going to take him too long.”

Gill’s Performance and Leadership

Gill previously established himself as one of the best ODI players globally and was a consistent performer in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Despite earlier inconsistencies in Tests and T20Is, he transformed his performance dramatically in his debut Test series as captain, scoring 754 runs across five matches in England.

His rapid growth as a leader and batsman indicates a promising future in international cricket.
