Josh Hazlewood took three wickets for 13 runs, putting India under pressure early in the match. Mitch Marsh then scored 46 runs, leading Australia to a four-wicket victory in the second Twenty20 international on Friday.
“Everything feels in a good place, and ready to go,” said Hazlewood, who will leave Australia's white-ball squad to begin preparing for the Ashes tests against England next month in Perth.
The first game of this five-match series was abandoned due to rain in Canberra on Wednesday. More than 82,400 fans attended the match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The series will continue in Hobart on Sunday, followed by a double-header in Queensland next week.
