During the World Series, the Toronto Blue Jays joined the Los Angeles Dodgers in paying tribute to Dodgers reliever Alex Vesia, who is absent due to a personal family matter.
The Dodgers announced on social media before Game 1 that Vesia was away from the team for a “deeply personal family matter.” In support, Dodgers pitchers have been wearing his number during games.
Matching this gesture of solidarity, several Blue Jays relievers have also begun wearing Vesia’s number, including Chris Bassitt, Seranthony Domínguez, Mason Fluharty, and Louis Varland.
“Dodgers reliever Alex Vesia is away from the team due to a ‘deeply personal family matter,’” Dodgers stated before the start of the series.
