Harvard extended its undefeated season with a 31–14 victory over Columbia on Friday. The Crimson (8–0, 5–0 Ivy League) are off to their best start since 2015 and remain unbeaten in conference play for the first time since 2016.
Xaviah Bascon rushed for two touchdowns, while Seamus Gilmartin caught two scoring passes from quarterback Jaden Craig. Bascon opened the game with a 1-yard touchdown to end a 10-play, 80-yard drive and scored again just before halftime.
Craig connected with Gilmartin twice in the second quarter. The first touchdown followed an interception by Columbia’s Chase Goodwin, recovered by Jack Donahoe and returned to the Lions’ 2-yard line.
After missing an early field goal, the Lions (1–7, 0–5 Ivy League) saw their next drives end in punts, interceptions, or halftime. They finally scored in the fourth quarter on a pass from Goodwin to Titus Evans, followed by another touchdown and a successful two-point conversion before failing an onside kick attempt.
“Harvard extended its road win streak to seven games, the longest active run in the nation.”
The Crimson have already matched their win totals from the previous two years combined, marking a remarkable turnaround for the program.
Author’s summary: Harvard remains unbeaten after a decisive 31–14 win over Columbia, with stellar performances from Bascon and Gilmartin securing the team’s continued dominance.
