Intel is reportedly developing a new CPU, Bartlett Lake-S, featuring 12 performance cores (P-Cores) and an impressive boost clock speed reaching up to 6GHz. This model is expected to use the LGA1700 socket, compatible with Intel's 14th-generation Raptor Lake processors.
Removing the 16 E-Cores, usually intended to handle background tasks and multitasking, allows the Bartlett Lake-S to add four additional P-Cores. This change could enhance gaming performance, making the chip potentially more powerful for gaming workloads than previous models.
According to Intel tech leaker @jaykihn0 on X: "The flagship Bartlett Lake-S model will have 12 P-Cores and a top 6GHz boost clock."
Despite its gaming potential, Intel's official documentation suggests Bartlett Lake-S is primarily aimed at edge computing applications rather than gaming.
"Intel’s own documentation points to Bartlett Lake-S being targeted at edge computing rather than gaming."
Author's summary: Intel’s Bartlett Lake-S CPU pushes core count and clock speeds higher but is designed mainly for edge computing, with gaming benefits coming as a secondary gain.
