LINGAYEN, Pangasinan (PIA) – The provincial government of Pangasinan announced the suspension of classes and government work on Monday, November 10. This precautionary move aims to protect residents as Typhoon Uwan approaches the area.
Vice Governor Mark Ronald Lambino ordered the suspension of all classes, both public and private, and government office work. This allows students, teachers, and government personnel to focus on family preparedness, contingency planning, and emergency readiness.
The suspension order follows advice from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), led by Governor Ramon Guico III. The province is preparing for the typhoon's impact, which includes strong winds, heavy rains, and potential flooding, as Typhoon Uwan may strengthen into a super typhoon.
During a pre-disaster risk assessment meeting, Governor Guico inspected rescue vehicles and equipment such as rubber boats, ambulances, and dump trucks to ensure readiness. Trained rescue teams have been placed on standby for evacuation and response efforts.
“If preemptive evacuation is needed, it should be carried out by local government units. Human life is the most valuable in these major disasters,” said Governor Guico.
Residents of Northern and Central Luzon are urged to remain vigilant and prepare for possible adverse weather effects as Typhoon Uwan approaches.
Summary: Pangasinan halts classes and government work as Typhoon Uwan nears, emphasizing readiness and prioritizing residents' safety amidst potential severe weather conditions.
