Australia’s master storyteller marks a major milestone with an album that firmly establishes his artistic legacy. Following a six-year gap between his self-written albums Nature (2018) and Fever Longing Still (2024), Kelly has returned with a new album just twelve months after the last.
This release is especially significant as it celebrates Kelly’s thirtieth album, his fiftieth year in music, and his seventieth year of life—hence the fitting title, Seventy.
Across five decades, Kelly’s music has beautifully tracked Australian life and culture. His body of work has earned him numerous awards, including seventeen ARIA awards for recording and five APRA awards for songwriting.
Most recently, he received the ‘2025 AACTA Award for Outstanding Contribution’, presented by legendary film star Russell Crowe, a lifelong Kelly fan.
While last year’s album Fever Longing Still showed that Kelly’s creative spark remains as strong as ever, Seventy serves as a fitting summary of his enduring and celebrated career.
This is not a compilation or a collection of forgotten tracks; rather, it encapsulates the full spectrum of Kelly’s sound throughout his career.
Author’s summary: Paul Kelly’s Seventy is a powerful celebration of his 50-year career, highlighting his evolving sound and lasting impact on Australian music and culture.
