The Boyle Post Office is set to move to a new location early next year. An Post has confirmed that Paul Kelly Jr. of Kelly’s SuperValu Boyle will take over as postmaster.
The post office will relocate from its current premises on Shop Street to the SuperValu Shopping Centre on Elphin Street. The new facility will occupy a vacant retail unit within Kelly’s SuperValu, about 450 meters from the existing site, and is expected to open on February 3.
Late last year, An Post appointed property firm Cushman Wakefield to oversee the sale of 14 town-centre post offices, including the Boyle building. The property was listed at €130,000.
“Yes, when we placed the former post office on the market, we did so on the understanding that it would continue to operate as a post office. However, one can never exclude the possibility of a new contractor relinquishing their contract, as occurred here. Fortunately, we have found an ideal new location and can now offer a modern facility for the people of Boyle,” said an An Post spokesperson.
Boyle’s post office will reopen on February 3 in Kelly’s SuperValu under new postmaster Paul Kelly Jr., offering improved service in a central location.
