The ninth-generation Toyota Hilux pickup truck debuted in Thailand, marking a decade since the previous model. Known worldwide for its durability and versatility, the Hilux now includes an electric variant as part of Toyota's “multi-pathway approach.”
The Hilux will feature diesel, hydrogen fuel cell, and electric versions. The electric model uses two motors—one on each axle—and a 59.2 kWh battery pack, delivering a combined 193 horsepower (144 kW). Torque output is 151 lb-ft (205 Nm) at the front and 198 lb-ft (269 Nm) at the rear.
This model comes in single- and double-cab body styles, but only the double-cab will be offered in European markets due to sales considerations.
Toyota says the new Hilux BEV will be able to go roughly 150 miles (240 kilometers) on a full charge, based on the WLTP cycle.
Toyota continues pushing electric and alternative fuel technologies as part of its commitment to diverse powertrain solutions.
Summary: Toyota's new Hilux pickup embraces electrification with a robust EV model alongside hydrogen fuel cell and diesel options, maintaining strong utility for global markets.
