Sara Cox's Children in Need Marathon Challenge

Radio 2 DJ Sara Cox is embarking on a demanding 135-mile challenge to support Children In Need. The Bolton-born presenter starts her five-day journey today, Monday, November 10, beginning in Kielder Forest near the Scottish borders and aiming to finish in Pudsey, Leeds, by Friday, November 14.

Sara's "Great Northern Marathon Challenge" will have her running, jogging, and walking through four counties: Northumberland, Durham, North Yorkshire, and West Yorkshire. She plans to complete the route on foot, carrying Pudsey bear throughout the entire distance, symbolically bringing "Pudsey" to Pudsey.

Following a Charitable Tradition

This challenge follows in the footsteps of Radio 2 colleague Paddy McGuinness, who last year raised £10 million by completing a tough cycling challenge for Children In Need.

Sara's Determination

"We’re talking 135 miles of hills, moors and blisters – but I am ready for the challenge, and I will absolutely be giving it everything I’ve got!"

She added, "When they picked me to get Pudsey to Pudsey, I was honoured and horrified in equal measure."

Sara aims to complete the route just in time for the Children In Need broadcast on BBC One Friday night.
