Thailand has taken a significant step in developing its national drone infrastructure through a large-scale drone delivery pilot in Bangkok. This initiative was led by Thailand’s National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT), the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), and High Lander Aviation.
The event, titled “The New Era of Drone Delivery,” showcased aerial delivery operations across the city. It demonstrated the capability of coordinated unmanned traffic management (UTM) technology to safely support drone operations in a complex urban environment.
High Lander Aviation, a global provider of UTM systems, integrated its Vega UTM platform with NT’s advanced 5G network. This combination provided real-time visibility, flight coordination, and safety management for all drones involved in the pilot.
Throughout the demonstration, multiple deliveries were completed successfully. These included shipments of medical supplies, agricultural products, and consumer goods.
“CAAT’s role is to regulate aviation safety and promote the advancement of the aviation industry. Supporting innovation and technological development in unmanned aircraft and related systems is a key part of our mission,” said Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General of the CAAT.
The Bangkok drone delivery pilot combined cutting-edge UTM and 5G tech to demonstrate safe, efficient aerial logistics, marking a milestone in Thailand’s aviation innovation.
