Gavin Brindley scored just 68 seconds into overtime, securing a 5-4 win for the Colorado Avalanche over the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday night.
Jake DeBrusk tied the game for Vancouver by deflecting a Brock Boeser pass on a power play with 3:01 left in the third period.
Artturi Lehkonen netted two goals for Colorado in the third period, including one on the power play.
Nathan MacKinnon scored twice within 1 minute and 28 seconds in the first period, one of those on a power play, giving the Avalanche a 2-0 lead. He also contributed three assists, totaling five points in the game.
The Avalanche now hold a league-best record of 10-1-5, while the Canucks stand at 8-8-1. Both teams entered the game following wins on Saturday: Vancouver beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-3, and Colorado overwhelmed the Edmonton Oilers 9-1.
Kevin Lankinen, starting his second consecutive game for Vancouver, stopped 27 shots. Colorado’s Mackenzie Blackwood made 29 saves.
Canucks’ goaltender Thatcher Demko missed his second straight game after not practicing on Friday. Head coach Adam Foote stated Demko might return Tuesday against the Winnipeg Jets.
