The Kentucky Wildcats faced the Valparaiso Beacons in a nonconference college basketball game at Rupp Arena. The team returned Jaland Lowe to the lineup and secured a dominant victory before their upcoming clash with Louisville.
In preseason matchups against Purdue and Georgetown, as well as the season opener versus Nicholls, Kentucky showed no hesitation in taking three-point shots. Coach Mark Pope aims for his squad to attempt at least 30 threes each game, but accuracy has been an issue.
The team struggled particularly in the first half against Nicholls, connecting on only 2 of 16 attempts (12.5%).
“We were a little bit of a bubbling mess, which should happen sometimes. It was everything,” said Coach Mark Pope about his team’s first-half offense. “We actually had some good possessions where we just didn't finish them. It was a lot of different things, but mostly us trying to find our rhythm and make plays for our teammates.”
As Kentucky (1-0) prepared to host Valparaiso (1-0) at Rupp Arena, the return of guard Jaland Lowe offered a positive boost. The Wildcats hope to sharpen their shooting touch before their high-profile matchup against Louisville.
