Unprecedented Need: Mercy Corps Moves Forward Amid Foreign Aid Cuts

Mercy Corps CEO Tjada D’Oyen McKenna recently appeared on the "Masters of Scale: Rapid Response" podcast, discussing the organization's efforts to build partnerships and innovate in order to continue reaching communities in crisis.

The ceasefire is a critical step but now we must urgently surge the immediate, consistent, and safe delivery of life-saving aid.

When foreign aid was cut earlier this year, Mercy Corps teams saw the impact immediately, with more than half of their U.S. grant-funded programs coming to an abrupt end. Foreign aid has been a lifeline for millions around the world, and after sweeping funding cuts, humanitarian agencies are being forced to do more with far less.

We have to completely reimagine and try to do the same if not more, with less resources into the system.

According to Tjada D’Oyen McKenna, despite the challenges, Mercy Corps will still have funding to continue some of their existing work:

We still will have funding to do some of the things that we always did.
