As Six Flags’ Maryland location closes shop, longtime visitors say goodbye

Six Flags America Closes Its Doors

Longtime visitors bid farewell to Six Flags America in Maryland as the park closed its doors permanently.

The park's parent company, which manages over 40 amusement parks in North America, announced the closure in May.

“We will feel its loss,” said Lise Bruneau, a Washington, D.C. resident. “I feel it already.”

For Bruneau, Six Flags America holds generations' worth of memories, including where her son first learned to swim.

The park, along with its water park Hurricane Harbor, drew a crowd of all ages for a final day of reminiscing before closing on Sunday.
