Election Roundup: Lumberton City Council

Lumberton City Council members Melissa Robinson, John Carroll, John Cantey, and Owen Thomas were reelected on Tuesday, each winning by a wide margin.

John Cantey, the senior member of the council, won a sixth term with 202 votes, more than 88% of the total. Two write-in candidates, Keith Copeland and Darryl Genus, combined for 27 votes.

“First and foremost, I’d like to thank God, all of our church families, civic groups and especially the residents of Precinct 5 for entrusting me to a sixth term as their representative,”

Cantey said, noting that his decisive victory indicates the residents' choice for representation.
