Scientists are puzzled by the appearance of a white Iberian lynx in Spain, and are calling for more research to understand the role of environmental factors in such anomalies.
Some animals, like chameleons, octopuses, cuttlefish, and snowshoe hares, change color naturally. However, the case of a female Iberian lynx, known as Satureja, is unusual. She has lost her natural brown and orange tones, but retained her unique black spots.
No one knows the reason for this striking change in coat color, which had already been observed in another lynx previously.
Researchers are keen to understand the causes of such changes, including the potential impact of exposure to chemicals.
