Claressa Shields, the undisputed heavyweight champion, has secured one of the most significant contracts in women's boxing history. Over recent years, she has proved herself as one of the sport’s most dominant athletes, and now her earnings reflect that success.
On Thursday, November 11, Shields announced on CBS Mornings a new two-year, $8 million multi-fight contract, which ranks among the most lucrative agreements in women’s boxing.
"I'm so excited to get it out, I've been keeping it a secret for like a week,"
she revealed during the broadcast. According to Sportico, the contract involves Wynn Records and Salita Promotions.
Shields recently defended her championship title with a unanimous decision victory over New Zealand’s Lani Daniels at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on July 26. It marked her second win of 2025 after another decisive victory against Danielle Perkins in Flint back in February.
The two-time Olympic gold medalist, who calls herself the “Gwoat” (Greatest Woman of All Time), acknowledged the growing recognition and compensation for female athletes in professional sports.
"I'm not the only one making money, but to get this deal done I feel like I'm getting my just due,"
she said, celebrating her achievement as both a fighter and a trailblazer.
Shields also mentioned she was super interested
in competing again at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, though current rules exclude professional boxers from Olympic events.
Claressa Shields continues reshaping women’s boxing with a record-setting contract that mirrors her dominance inside the ring and her influence beyond it.
