MRI on Heat’s Adebayo shows toe sprain, out Friday and listed as day-to-day

MRI on Heat’s Adebayo Shows Toe Sprain, Listed Day-to-Day

The Miami Heat faced roster challenges even before losing Bam Adebayo early in Wednesday night’s game against the Denver Nuggets. His departure in the first quarter only underscored the issue.

Following the game in Denver, Adebayo underwent an MRI on Thursday that revealed a sprain in his left big toe. As a result, he will miss Friday night’s home game against the Charlotte Hornets at Kaseya Center and will be evaluated daily from this point forward.

The Heat’s next matchup after Charlotte is Saturday evening, also at Kaseya Center, against the Portland Trail Blazers. To reinforce the lineup, Miami recalled center Vlad Goldin from the G League. Goldin, a former Florida Atlantic University player, had been contributing there before being brought back to support the depleted frontcourt.

Even prior to Adebayo’s injury, the Heat’s depth at center had been limited. Once he limped off to the locker room at Ball Arena, the shortage became critical, leaving few reliable options besides second-year player Kel’el Ware.

“Now the question becomes whether Erik Spoelstra’s team can measure up in Adebayo’s absence.”

Veteran guard Norman Powell acknowledged the reality of a team that began the season counting primarily on Adebayo and Ware to anchor the center position — a plan now in flux after Adebayo’s early exit in Denver’s 122–112 win.

Author’s Summary:

Bam Adebayo’s toe sprain sidelines him short-term, pressing the Miami Heat to adapt their already thin center rotation and recall Vlad Goldin from the G League.
