Tasmania's struggles at their Launceston venue persisted with a narrow 103-102 defeat against South-East Melbourne on Thursday. Despite a brilliant performance from JackJumpers import Bryce Hamilton, the team fell to a third straight home loss.
The JackJumpers entered the game with a 2-7 record at the Silverdome, having struggled offensively in a 75-69 loss to Cairns the previous Saturday. Hamilton scored an impressive 36 points from 16-23 shooting, but it wasn't enough to secure victory.
In contrast, the Phoenix have soared this season. After starting the last campaign with a 2-6 record, they have bounced back to 7-2, ranking second on the ladder after this thrilling win.
"Not even 36 points off 16-23 shooting from Hamilton couldn’t prevent the JackJumpers falling to 5-6, having dropped previous games at home against the Taipans and Perth."
"Phoenix youngster Malique Lewis (23 points, 9-11 shooting) was outstanding, particularly in the first half with 18 points, hitting his first five shots."
