Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed plans to potentially build a "gigantic chip fab" to manufacture artificial intelligence (AI) chips. Speaking at Tesla’s annual shareholder meeting, Musk mentioned the possibility of collaborating with Intel.

Manufacturing Plans for Next-Generation AI Chips

Tesla is developing its fifth-generation AI chip aimed at supporting its autonomous vehicle ambitions. Musk told shareholders,

“You know, maybe we’ll, we’ll do something with Intel. We haven’t signed any deal, but it’s probably worth having discussions with Intel.”

His comments followed strong shareholder support for a $1 trillion compensation package, reflecting confidence in Musk’s vision to evolve Tesla into an AI and robotics powerhouse.

Tesla’s Existing Chip Partnerships

Besides Intel, Tesla continues partnering with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and Samsung from South Korea to produce AI chips. These chips power Tesla’s autonomous driving functions, including its Full Self-Driving software.

Tesla is currently producing chips at its fourth-generation technology, with the AI5 chip under development.
