US President Donald Trump announced that Kazakhstan has agreed to join the Abraham Accords, expanding the series of normalization deals between Israel and Muslim-majority nations. He emphasized that this marks the first addition to the accords during his second term in office.
"Kazakhstan is the first Country of my Second Term to join the Abraham Accords, the first of many. This is a major step forward in building bridges across the World," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
"Today, more Nations are lining up to embrace Peace and Prosperity through my Abraham Accords. We will soon announce a Signing Ceremony to make it official, and there are many more Countries trying to join this club of strength," he added.
According to the statement, Trump plans to host an official signing ceremony soon. Later that day, he welcomed Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and leaders from four other Central Asian nations for a dinner at the White House.
The Abraham Accords are diplomatic agreements established during Trump’s first term, aiming to normalize relations between Israel and several Muslim-majority countries. So far, Bahrain, Morocco, Sudan, and the United Arab Emirates have joined the peace initiative. Kazakhstan becomes the fifth nation to take part, although the specific details of its participation remain unclear.
