Glen Powell surprised fans by revealing that he is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree at the University of Texas, returning to the school he first enrolled in back in 2008 after high school. His rising acting career led him to leave college for Los Angeles, but now he’s determined to complete his education.
“I am enrolled at the University of Texas right now,” he told Variety. “It’s been nuts.”
Powell explained that he initially studied economics before transferring to a radio-television-film program to finish properly.
“I’m finishing properly. I’m not doing the honorary degree… I’m taking six credits a semester. So, I will finish in spring 2027.”
He joked that he plans to celebrate his graduation with fellow actors Josh Brolin and Lee Pace from The Running Man.
“I’ll throw a graduation party if you guys want to tear it up in Austin.”
The University of Texas describes its radio-television-film program as one that gives students hands-on experience with the latest technology and prepares them for success in media and entertainment careers. Despite already being a major Hollywood figure, Powell is eager to deepen his academic understanding of the industry.
