The Ronaldsway Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain expected to affect the Isle of Man from 6am to 9pm on Tuesday. This warning indicates a need for awareness due to potentially significant rainfall.
The predicted rain band could bring 20-30mm of rain to lower areas and up to 50mm over the hills. Forecaster Adrian Cowin stated:
“Generally wet and windy on Tuesday with strengthening south to southeast winds bringing prolonged periods of often heavy rain. Rainfall totals look to be 20 to 30mm widely but up to about 50mm over the hills. Given the already saturated ground, there'll be a quick runoff of the rain to give areas of surface water flooding especially in prone places and in locations where drainage is already poor or becomes blocked with autumn debris. River levels will rise quite quickly.”
The Met Office continues to monitor the situation closely to provide updates if conditions change.
Author’s summary: The Isle of Man faces significant rain and wind on Tuesday, with flooding risks due to saturated ground, followed by a mix of drier and wet spells through the rest of the week.
